Pequot Lakes High School Announces ExCEL candidates

ExCEL - Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership - is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who are model citizens.

This is the 21st year that the Minnesota State High School League has sponsored the ExCEL Award. Nominees must be a junior in high school, making satisfactory progress toward graduation requirements, participate in a MSHSL fine arts and/or athletic activity, hold a leadership position in school, and work voluntarily in their community.

Juniors Molly Johnson and Ben Golden will represent Pequot Lakes this year according to Activities Director, Marc Helmrichs.  

Molly Johnson has been a member of the dance team for the past five years and is also active in speech where she advanced to sections as a sophomore. Molly has been on the “A” honor roll her entire high school career.  Molly is active in student council and is a member of the National Honor Society.  Molly volunteers with a variety of organizations and has been a HOBY leadership participant.   Molly is the daughter of James and Jessica Johnson.

 

Ben participates in cross country, golf and band.  Ben is a five time letter winner and was an alternate at the state track meet last spring.  Ben is active in band and has received a superior rating at solo and ensemble contests the past two years.  Ben has been on the “A” honor roll throughout high school.  Ben is a member of the National Honor Society and active in student council. Ben is active in his church as a volunteer.  Ben is the son of Darren and Robin Golden.  

Statewide ExCEL winners will be announced in February.
