Pair of Distinguished Service Award Winner Announced

 

2018 Citizen of the Year
Brainerd, MN, September 21, 2017: Brainerd Community Action and the Brainerd Jaycees are proud to announce that Eryk Haapajoki has been chosen as the 2018 Outstanding Citizen of the Year.
Eryk is an individual who has been recognized as a dynamic leader that has a unique ability to touch many hearts with his genuine personality and has an ability pull people together for the benefit of many. He has also been noted as a wildly ambitious visionary with contagious enthusiasm.
With these qualities, it was easy for the selection committee to determine that Eryk Haapajoki is deserving of being selected as the 2018 Citizen of the Year.
We want to recognize Eryk for his presence, his passion, his energy, his insight, his leadership and his vision that has made the Brainerd Lakes area a better place to live.
Congratulations, Eryk!
The award criteria includes the following:
• The award is to be given to a living person
• The nominee will have volunteered services that are above and beyond normal employment or business pursuits
• The services performed have contributed to the welfare of the community
• The services were performed for an extended period of time2018 Youth Volunteer of the Year

Brainerd Community Action and the Brainerd Jaycees are proud to announce that Haley Helmin has been chosen as the 2018 Youth Volunteer of the Year.
This young lady had multiple nomination letters submitted on her behalf, noting that she is a strong, goal-driven, kind- hearted, self-starter, and a dedicated & giving individual with a loving heart and generous spirit.
With these qualities, it was easy for the selection committee to determine that Haley Helmin is deserving of being selected as the 2018 Youth Volunteer of the Year.
As a young leader of this community, we can only imagine how great of an asset she will continue to be. We recognize that Haley has made a difference in this community through volunteerism and service work, and we are so proud to call her our Youth Volunteer of the Year.

• The nominee will have volunteered services that are above and beyond normal youth pursuits
• The services performed have contributed to the welfare of the community
• The services were performed for an extended period of time
This award is open to anyone in the Brainerd Lakes Area who exemplifies the ideal of service to humanity.
