Roads in Brainerd Lakes Area busy with construction, events

Roads in the Brainerd Lakes Area will see heavy traffic over this coming weekend with road construction and big events coming to Crow Wing County.

More than 100-hundred-thousand visitors are expected to attend the 38th annual Lucas Oil National Hot Rod Association Nationals race at Brainerd International Speedway will cause more congestion than in years past. Motorists should plan for longer travel times on Highway 371 and other area roadways between Brainerd and Nisswa August 15-18.

Area roadway projects include Highway 210 Brainerd to Ironton which remains closed. Detour uses Highway 25 in Brainerd, Highway 18, Highway 6 to Deerwood, and Highway 210/6 to Crosby.

The Highway 6 Project in Crosby is closed north of Highway 210/6 junction in Crosby. The detour uses Highway 210/6, Crow Wing County Road 31 through Cuyuna and County Road 30, but motorists should expect delays with Heritage Days in Crosby and the Cuyuna Crusher Mountain Bike event August 15-18.

Highway 6 south of Emily to Outing still alternates one-way traffic with flaggers and use of a pilot car.
