DNR needs opinions on State Deer Management Plan

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources may have cancelled open houses, but they still want to hear your opinion on the statewide deer management plan.

Minnesotans can call or email their local wildlife manager by Wednesday, April 1st. Many public events were scheduled to take place over the next couple of months, but in accordance with guidance from state health officials, they were adjusted, canceled or postponed.

The Deer Management Plan includes better communication and public involvement, deer stakeholder satisfaction, population management, healthy deer and habitat, deer impact on resources, funding, and continuous improvement.

Local wildlife managers can be reached at the Aitkin Area office, located at 1200 Minnesota Avenue South, by calling 218-429-3053 or email aitkin.wildlife@state.mn.us. Call the Brainerd office at 218-203-4302 or email brainerd.wildlife@state.mn.us, and is also located at 1601 Minnesota Drive.
