Aitkin County Sheriff's arrest Skinaway in stabbing incident

(Aitkin County, MN) --- The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest of a suspect relating to a stabbing in Spalding Township.
The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a male party had been stabbed in the chest. Upon arrival, Deputies learned the suspect had fled the scene on bicycle and the victim had left the household. The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Clifford Monroe Skinaway, Jr., of McGregor was located along Highway 65.
The victim, 45-year-old Clinton James Nichols, of McGregor, was located back at his residence and was transported to Riverwood Healthcare Center with two stab wounds to the chest. Nichols was then transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
Skinaway is currently being held in the Aitkin County Jail being charged with one count of Felony Attempted Murdeer 2nd Degree, one count of Felony Assault 1st Degree, and one count of Felony Assault 2nd Degree. He is under unconditional bond/bail of $600,000 and conditional bond/bail of $300,00. He is scheduled to appear in Aitkin County Court on July 10th.
The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
