(Serpent Lake, MN) --- The Cuyuna Lakes Chamber of Commerce was dealt another blow to their summer lineup of events with the rescheduling of the Power Boats Races on Serpent Lake to 2021.
The Chamber applied for a Special Event Permit request that was denied by the Crosby City Council during their meeting on Monday, June 22nd. The Council cited Governor Tim Walz’s Executive Order that allows social gathering of 250 people, but the Power Boat Races draws a crowd of around 1,500 over the two-day event. The Council also raised concerns about how to enforce proper social distance.
The Chamber plans to hold the event at Memorial Park next year. In relation to the Power Boat Races, the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center announced earlier this month the annual diabetes patient fundraiser “Because of Brandon” event was also cancelled.
