Conservation officer Guida honored by DNR

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources recognized long serving officers for their tireless efforts at their annual awards ceremony and training conference at Camp Ripley last week.

Conservation officer Jim Guida of the Brainerd East district was awarded the Waterfowl Enforcement Achievement Award. Guida is a second generation conservation officer that is committed to ensuring future generations have the opportunity to experience ducks whizzing by their blinds. He has invested his time into building wood duck houses and talking to school children at school and during safety courses.

Other awards handed out included Officer Tom Hutchins of Crookston was named the 2020 DNR Conservation Officer of the Year. Officer Mitch Lawler was awarded the Boat and Safety Achievement Award, officer Angela Londgren of Cambridge was named the Willard Munger Wetlands Achievement Award recipient, and Tricia Plautz from the Henning area was named the Enforcement Education Achievement Award winner.
