Outreach Program of Brainerd Lakes Area UPDATE 3-15
Shawn Hansen, Executive Director of The Outreach Program of Brainerd Lakes Area gives us an update on their efforts in supplying meals for those in need throughout the area amid COVID-19. She first updates us on just how many meals have been already packed this year.
These efforts are capable due to the "Pack Warriors".
The "Pack Warriors" are packing meals that are distributed to now 25 local entities, all in a 60-70 mile radius locally in the Brainerd Lakes Area. All funding for The Outreach Program is through donations, as they receive no federal funding. A big help has been the fish dinners served by Ganley's Restaurant in Nisswa, and Hansen tells us how that came together and the ultimate goal.
Believe it or not, Luke and Chef Russ said that they think they could even get up to 700 dinners in one night. The next fish dinner fundraiser is Friday May 22nd. Hansen give you the details to order.
The dinners have sold out the last two times, so don't miss out and call 218-232-3528 to place your order and what time you want to pick them up. You can follow The Outreach Program of Brainerd Lakes Area on Facebook for more, and they will post if and when the dinners are sold out.
